Why can't SourceForge just remember me?

I do not typically make complaints in my blog, so consider this a request for advice in good practices ;)

My problem is that I have to log in on SourceForge every day, even if I tick the 'Remember me' switch. I do understand that account log ins do need some time out... but less than a day? One cause of problems seems to be if I connect via a different network, but Cookies should not be affected by that? Am I doing something wrong here, or does SourceForge?

Are others having the same problems?

  1. you also choose Secure or not? Do you use OpenID or not?

  2. Yes (sure!). Tried both actually, but using OpenID mostly now. Does not seem to make any difference...

    Does it work for you?

  3. I don't choose Secure. That might explain it.

  4. Do you still end up in a https:// connection? Actually... since I use OpenID now, I do not send a password around, so just using http:// is not that bad... I mean, what I do shows up as SF activity anyway...

Mmm... interesting suggestion! Will try it.

  5. Noel, tried without the secure bit... but that does not help. So, I guess it has to do with me switching IP?

    Rather annoying in any case...
