Last year the Bacting paper was published (doi:10.21105/joss.02558) and later Charles wrapped this in the pybacting package so Bioclipse scripts can be run in Python. We discussed how to update the A lot of Bioclipse Scripting Language examples ebook with Python examples. I already tested earlier if the scripts worked in Google Colab (it did), but I had not gotten to adding a link to the ebook to open a script in Colab. Until today.

Just a quick note. I have added two volumes of J.Cheminform. so that I could download more JATS. Unlike I write previously, this repository now has more than just JATS for articles with CiTO annotation. Automatically extracting CiTO annotations is still the goal, but I realize I wanted more than that.

Because people are counting, it is hard to decline an invitation to contribute to a paper. Honestly, I rather be invited to contribute to research, but as I am told in a far past: writing papers and grant proposals make you think better about your research. Mmm, yes, that's because without those I never thought about my research. Anyways, These cross-project collaborations are really nice, and thank the leading authors for our joined efforts.

Last year, Denise, Tina, Marvin, and I received an NWO Open Science grant (203.001.121) to improve the long running BridgeDb project, originally developed by Martijn van Iersel (see doi:10.1186/1471-2105-11-5). Helena joined our group as research software engineer and will work part-time on this grant.

This blog deals with chemblaics in the broader sense. Chemblaics (pronounced chem-bla-ics) is the science that uses computers to solve problems in chemistry, biochemistry and related fields. The big difference between chemblaics and areas such as chem(o)?informatics, chemometrics, computational chemistry, etc, is that chemblaics only uses open source software, open data, and open standards, making experimental results reproducible and validatable. And this is a big difference!
